Our committees are an opportunity for you to focus on a particular area that our organization is involved in. They exclusively deal with one particular issue and one goal. Not everyone feels
comfortable talking to people on every subject, so the committees are a great way to pick the part of the organization that is right up your alley.
This committee attempts to build solidarity among the membership through fun activities and education.
Civil Rights Committee
This committee, in association with I/N company strives to accomplish the following:

JOINT ADVISORY COMMITTEE POLICY AND PROCEDURE
All I/N team members deserve dignity and respect.The Human and Civil Rights Committee (HCR) will promote a positive, constructive work environment in which individual differences are valued and the human rights of all I/N team members are respected. The Council will advance awareness through education and training. The work will be accomplished through a focused business planning approach integrated within the I/N Companies' work system design.
Mission and Values Statement:
The Human and Civil Rights Committee issued its Mission and Values Statement, as amended, which is the cornerstone for this Charter document, on May 25, 1993.
Mission – The mission is to advance the human and civil rights of all I/N team members and promote awareness of through education.
– We will create a work environment that will support individual differences and diversity and promote the advancement of all I/N team members without regard to
race, color, religious creed, national origin, sex, physical challenge, military status, or age and will provide a workplace free of harassment. This will be accomplished through education to provide greater awareness and to eliminate barriers that limit
opportunities. We will serve as a Diversity awareness resource for I/N team members in a framework built on mutual trust, respect and a sense of dignity, which will promote personal growth, secure employment and a clean and safe workplace. Team members are the
basis of our competitive advantage.
Women of Steel
This committee helps to unite the women of Local 9231 and 9231-01 together providing education about womens issues in the workplace, while sponsoring many charitable activities throughout the year.
This team works on all things political for the Local. From dealing with and meeting elected officals on the behalf of the membership, all the way back to spending time educating, empowering, and engaging the membership. As designed, this is a non-partisan entity, designed and organized at the International level and run by the Local.
The members of this committee are a partnership of union and company, working to offer union members a continuing educational oppurtunity.
The actions of this committee involve working to make sure that Achievement Sharing Plan is followed by the company and that members are insured the the best possible results.
The sole purpose of the members of this committee is to ensure that each and every election, that takes place within our Local, is done according to all the rules and regulations, set forth by our by-laws.
